What Governance Looks Like in AI

Artificial intelligence is reshaping every corner of society and our legal frameworks have to catch up. From data privacy rules to algorithmic accountability, lawmakers face the difficult task of drafting regulations that encourage innovation while protecting citizens. My experiences researching technology policy convince me that the public sector must work alongside engineers to create systems we can trust.

As AI becomes embedded in critical infrastructure, the principles of transparency and democratic oversight are more important than ever. Governance isn't just about restricting technology—it's about making sure the benefits are shared broadly and the risks are addressed openly. We need collaboration between governments, industry and civil society to get there.
